DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, your main responsibility will be to conduct standardized on-road examinations in order to assess the skills and competence of non-commercial driver license applicants.
This will involve evaluating the physical conditions and driving qualifications of applicants, as well as checking the mechanical condition of vehicles according to established guidelines and standards.
Prior to administering the driving tests, you will also need to perform pre-trip inspections of vehicles and ensure that they meet safety requirements, including inspection stickers, lights, windshield wipers, and other mechanical features.
It will be important to assess the applicant's knowledge of vehicle controls during this process.
Additionally, part of your role will involve examining applications, registrations, and permits for any potential irregularities or fraud.
You will also be responsible for administering both the CDL and Non-CDL knowledge examinations, which will test applicants on their understanding of the motor vehicle code and traffic signs.
Finally, you will be required to evaluate the applicant's practical demonstration of motor vehicle operation and their adherence to the rules of the road.
This may include administering tests of vision, such as telebinocular and color perception tests, to ensure the applicant meets the necessary requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment, 80 hours bi-weekly Work hours are 8:15 AM to 4:45 PM, Tuesday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Overtime and travel required Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year of experience as a Driver License Examiner Assistant (commonwealth title); or Two years of experience obtaining, evaluating, and providing information to the public.
Special Requirements: This position requires an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent and twenty-one years of age at the time of application.
This position requires no suspensions or revocations of a driver’s license during the five-year period immediately preceding employment.
All employees in this job hired after February 28, 2022, are required to obtain an active unrestricted Class M driver’s license within the first six months of employment or before the end of the probationary period and maintain it during employment.
