Job Summary As the Area Manager, you will manage personnel, equipment, physical plant and materials to produce the highest quality efficiently and safely, while reporting directly to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities Provide team leadership and direction that: 1-Improves plant efficiency through reduction of direct labor downtime as a percent of direct labor.
2-Develops improved utilization of indirect labor personnel to provide maximum direct labor productivity.
This is measured as a percent of direct labor 3-Monitors manufacturing process to ensure production is done as scheduled to provide maximum profitability and minimum alternate process variances.
4-Targets areas of manufacturing by identifying and eliminating excessive waste.
Measured as a percent of pounds converted.
5-Involves all facets of manufacturing in identifying potential work hazards and taking corrective action to provide a safe, orderly work environment.
6-Creates an atmosphere of total commitment to SAP operating procedures, which will improve service levels, reduce inventories and provide better overall plant performance.
7-Is conducive to the participative style of management which develops commitment and teamwork essential to the continued improvement in operating efficiency.
8-Promotes employee awareness in dealing with specific quality problems which will result in improved customer satisfaction and sales.
9-Provides coaching and mentoring to direct reports.
10-Develops direct reports to the fullest of their potential.
11-Identifies, accomplishes and utilizes training initiatives to enhance professional performance.
12-Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent information as directed by the supervisor and/or based on sound business practice and/or all applicable federal, state and local laws.
13-Utilizes employee involvement to foster innovation, improve performance, and contribute to business initiatives.
Qualifications BA/BS with supervisory experience preferred; High School Diploma or GED with supervisory experience preferred Working knowledge of SAP and in a union environment is a plus Functional knowledge of Standard Cost Accounting Minimum 5 years production experience required: general understanding of efficient, cost effective manufacturing processes and basic project management Strong computer experience required with basic to intermediate level proficiency of Microsoft Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Basic project management experience preferred.
Mechanical aptitude required.
